John E, Cross a retired retail Supervisor and devoted family man, died peacefully at Sapphire Nursing facility in Newburgh on January 13,2021, he was 87.
The son of the late Anthony Demond and Fannie Goodyear Cross, he was born in Middletown, N.Y. on September 15, 1933.
John worked for over 30 years at Lloyds in the Men’s department as a Buyer Supervisor. John married the love of his life, Carol A. Bailey on December 19, 1954 in Wassaic, N.Y. and together they raised two children. Their lives were filled with a deep love for each other and their family. They enjoyed golfing, vacations at the shore and spending time with the grandchildren. Carol died on September 23, 2016 and John has missed her terribly ever since. He always referred to her as “My Girl”. They were married for 61 years.
John is survived by his Children, John A Cross and his wife Elise of Longs, S.C., Carolynn Alvarez and her husband Cochise of Middletown and cherished grandchildren, Lisa and her husband Joseph, John and his wife Sarah, Daralynn, Alexis, Cochise Jayden, and four great grandchildren, Arianna, Braden, Abigail and Jackson. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol, and his sister, Sara Cross. Cremation will be private and his cremains will be buried in the family plot in Amenia Island Cemetery in the springtime.
