John McLean, a retired pharmacist, died on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Middletown Park Manor with his loving family by his side. He was 84.
The son of the late Allan S. and Jean Porter McLean, he was born on March 24, 1933 in North Arlington, N.J. John proudly served in the United States Coast Guard and retired as a Captain. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from Fordham University. He was the proud owner of Lascoff Pharmacy on 82nd and Lexington Avenue in New York City. After retiring, he worked for Fresenius Medical in Chester, New York, as a part time pharmacist. Our Dad loved his profession and took pride in working hard, always continuing his quest for knowledge, and sharing his work ethics with those surrounding him.
John is survived by his loving companion Doris Tilmont at home; his children, sons, Ian McLean and his wife Kathleen of Bloomingburg and Allan Mclean of Middletown, and daughter Elizabeth Fitzmaurice of Brick, NJ and Alison Fitzmaurice and her husband Christopher of Spring Lake, NJ; and his beloved grandchildren, Kayla, Jack, Liam, Elizabeth, Shana, Nora, Emily, Tyge and Erin.
John was predeceased by his parents, his brother Allan and sister, Betty Mueller.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial with Military honors will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
