John E. Barnes, a lifelong resident died at home with his family by his bedside after a long illness. He was 76 years old.
He was the son of Hazel Stanton and the late Clifford L. Barnes.
John married Catherine Harris 57 years ago on 11/03/1963 in Middletown New York and raised three children together.
John worked 27 years at Yellow Freight. He also drove School bus for Mid City Transit for Middletown School District.
John enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as spending time with his Grandchildren. He was a member of the Black Rock Fish & Game Club and the Shawangunk Fish & Game Association. John had a Roofing & Siding business for many years.
John is survived by loving wife, Catherine, his daughters Paulette Forgacs of Port Jervis , Priscilla Hassan of Westbrookville and son Lance Barnes Honesdale Pa. He was predeceased by brother Vincent, and has 2 brothers Clifford Barnes of Austell Georgia, Ralph Barnes of New Windsor NY and 1 sister MaryJane Barnes of Middletown NY. 4 Grandsons ; Shaun Hassan, Griffin Barnes, Lance Barnes Jr. and Logan Barnes. 3 Granddaughter, Shannon Hassan, Kaitlin Barnes and Siariah Barnes.
Cremation and Services for John will be private.
