Obituary for Joan Moppert

Joan Moppert

Joan Moppert, a beloved mom and retired health care attendant, died on December 28, 2022, after a long illness at Park Manor Rehab. She was 88.

The daughter of John and Lillian Eckert Reed, she was born in Amityville, NY on July 11, 1934.

Joan was a devout catholic and devoted mom. She cherished her five children and family was her priority. She worked for many years at St. Theresa’s Nursing Home caring for patients and creating a bevy of friends and colleagues that made for a pleasant working environment. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bingo and swimming. She was Irish and was proud of her heritage and was always willing to tell you just what she thought….about anything.

She is survived by her five children; Richard and Betty Lawrence of Myrtle Beach, Francis and Caryl Lawrence  of Ft. Mills, S.C., Kathleen Smith of L.I., Patricia and Mark Smith of Texas and Joan and Alex Oquendo of Middletown, NY.

She is also survived and will be missed by her beloved grandchildren; Christine, Amber, Tara, Elias and Julius and great-grandchildren; Jared and Trystan.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 2:00pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.

We are grateful to Garnet and Middletown Park Manor for the care they gave to our mom.
