Joan E. Mabee, a lifetime Middletown resident, died on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at her home. She was 83.
The daughter of the late John and Lena Henrietta Eggler Warren, she was born on April 16, 1931 in Matamoras, PA. She married Ira Mabee in 1953 in Middletown and they shared 42 years together. She worked as a para professional for the City of Middletown School System for many years. Joan was a longtime member, former Deacon and Sunday School teacher of First Presbyterian Church in Middletown.
She is survived by her children, Ira J. and Mary Jo Mabee of Boca Raton,. FL, Margaret and Bill Brown and Janice Mabee all of Bloomingburg, and Charles Mabee of Middletown; brothers, Charles Warren and his wife Carol of Billerica, MA and Jack Warren of TX and sister Olive Rogers and her husband Robert of Matamoras, PA;eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ira, daughter Mary Jean Callan and sister Emily.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 19, 2014 at United Presbyterian Church, Orchard Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow at Wallkill Cemetery in the family plot.
Memorial contributions in Joan’s name may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 19, 2014 at United Presbyterian Church, Orchard Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow at Wallkill Cemetery in the family plot.
