Joan Donnelly (nee Reidy) of Middletown, NY (formerly of Riverdale, NY) died after a long illness on December 28, 2017. She was 76 years old.
The daughter of the late Jack and Mary Quinn Reidy, she was born on February 6, 1941 in the Bronx. Joan worked for many years in the advertising business in New York City. She was gifted with an effervescent personality that won her many friends and business associates. After moving to Middletown, she volunteered at ORMC, joined the Middletown and Wallkill Senior Clubs, worshipped at St. Joseph's and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Churches, and helped many people through the 12 Step Program. Joan always had a positive outlook and attitude; even in sickness she still maintained her sense of humor and selfless concern for family and friends.
She is survived by her loving children, Thomas Flynn of Thornwood, NY and Jennifer Woods (Matthew) of Homosassa, FL; her grandchildren: Michelle and Nicole Flynn and Mackenzie and Tristan Woods; her sister, Margaret Bauer (William) of Briarcliff Manor, NY; niece, Eileen Madden (Michael) also of Briarcliff Manor; nephew, John Bauer of Los Gatos, CA; great niece, Elizabeth and great nephew, Jack Madden; and her dear friend, Judy.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3rd at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 4th at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Burial will be at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 5th, 2018 at St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
