Obituary for Joan C. Banta
Joan C. Banta, a resident of Warwick, died after a short illness on April 21, 2020. She was 88.
The daughter of Lester and Sara Banta, she was born in Bloomingdale N.J. on December 11, 1931. She worked for Osram Industries in Maybrook for many years, but in her leisure time fashioned Civil War clothing for historical re-enactments. She was an excellent seamstress, and in her earlier years was employed by Clove Dress Company in Warwick. She was a great cook, water ski enthusiast, and adventurous woman. She never let the grass grow under her feet. Her family was her greatest accomplishment, and she made a good life for them.
Joan is survived by her two daughters Sandra L. DeRoma and husband Joseph and Evelyn M. McKeever and husband Bruce, and her sister, Mae Banta. Grandchildren; Shane T. Weymer Sr. and wife Bryana, and Brian D. McKeever and wife Jessica. Great-grandchildren; Shane T. Weymer Jr., Averi L. Weymer, Jackson J. Weymer, Caleb Smith, Tyler Smith, and Raedyn McKeever.
