Obituary for Jeffrey Albert Rieck
Jeffrey Albert Rieck, of Bloomingburg, NY, a long time area resident of Middletown, NY, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the home of Dale Alison Rieck, his ex-wife whose house he whole-heartedly built and is thankful he will never have to perform another renovation on again. He was 61. At the end, he never wanted nothing from nobody.

The son of the late Albert and Ruth Reick (nee Schmidt), he was born on December 22, 1952 at Hackensack Memorial Hospital in Hackensack, NJ.

An uneducated graduate of Westwood High School, Westwood, NJ, class of 1972, Jeff went on to become a skilled and proud carpenter with Carpenter’s Local # 279, although he was unsure of how proud the union was of him since he was chronically out of work. By some miracle he did acquire enough pension credits to retire early. He was also an avid automotive technician, cook, and fisherman. Always believing that you should get yours, he never got his and spent the majority of his time and resources supporting his unappreciative family and friends. Never one to yell, he would only raise his voice to unskilled college graduates so you could get his point.

Survivors include his daughter Courtney Rieck of Middletown, NY; two sons, Jeffrey “no sense of humor” Rieck of New York, NY, and John “free is for me” Rieck of Middletown; his half-brother, Teddy Secor and his wife Joanne of Westwood, NJ; his “good for nothing” but beloved sister, Susan Nester and her husband Tom of River Edge, NJ; three grandchildren, Bryce, Hannah, and Little Louie; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

At the request of Jeff, he would prefer that no one gawks at him while he is deceased, so a private family ceremony will be held at the convenience of the Rieck family. For more information on private ceremony, please reach out to a member of the family. In lieu of flowers and arrangements, please preform one act of kindness to someone in need.
