Jeff Hogan of Middletown, died unexpectedly at ORMC on Saturday, February 9, 2013. He was 53.
The son Esther P. Dziedizic Hogan and the late Bill Hogan, Jeff was born on October 15, 1959 in Middletown. Jeff graduated in 1977 from Middletown High School and was a lifetime Middletown resident. He worked for the Steam and Pipe Fitters Union and was a licensed Middletown plumber. He was a die hard sports fan- he loved the NY Jets, Rangers, and Nascar especially Dale Ernhardt, Sr.
Jeff will be remembered by his family and friends for his laid back, easygoing style. He always put everyone else before himself. Jeff was very proud father of both Jason and Shawna. Even though Shawna was his favorite, he supported Jason throughout his wrestling career as an avid spectator . After Jason became a wrestling coach, Jeff continued to attend every match. He loved his chocolate labs, Charlee and Lucy. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Cindy Guthrie on January 25, 2012.
Jeff is survived by his family; his mother Esther; his daughter, Shawna Strenfel and her husband Timothy and son, Jason Lichtenstein and his wife Christine; his brother, John W. Hogan and his wife Ellen Faust of Glen Spey; sisters, Patricia Hogan of Winterton and Eileen Hogan of New Hampton; and his beloved grandchildren, Hailey and Addison and niece and nephew Shannon and Shawn Hogan and great nieces Taylor Hogan and Zoe Reed.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, February 15, 2013 at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jeff’s name may be made to the Middletown Humane Society, Bloomingburg Road, Middletown, NY 10940.
