Jean M. Weeden, 61, a lifelong resident of Middletown, NY, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 at home surrounded by family and friends. Jeani was born on February 11, 1952 to the late Floyd W. and Eleanor B. Gardner Shoemaker in Middletown, NY.Â
Jean retired from the NYS Office of Mental Health after 32 years. She was a lifelong member of the North Congregational United Church of Christ where she served as a past Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and most recently as an assistant to the treasurer. Jean was also a past member of the D&H Dancers, where she and her husband served as club presidents and as class coordinators. She was known as a light hearted, caring person who loved life. Her strength and courage were an example to all who knew her.Â
Surivivors include her husband of 37 years, Lance; two children, Lance Jay and his wife Christina of Wurtsboro, NY and Corey and his wife Micki of Greenville, NY; five grandchildren, Nevaeh, William, Regan, Lorelei and Garrett. She is also survived by her sister Beverly Brinckerhoff and her husband Allan of Middletown, her brother, Charles and his wife Sharon of Columbia, MD, her brother-in-law John Keller of Matamoras, PA, her sister-in-law Sheila Shoemaker, as well as Aunt Millie Shoemaker, several cousins, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and by her best friends and adopted family Bill and Judy Durr of Middletown.Â
Jean was predeceased by her parents, sister Elizabeth (Betty) Keller and her brother Floyd (Bill) Shoemaker.Â
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Service of Celebration will be led by the Rev. Michael Grinnals and Rev. David Gregory at 11 am on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, NY.Â
