Obituary for Jean H Humphrey
Jean H. Humphrey, of Middletown NY, passed away peacefully at Northern Westchester Hospital on Tuesday January 18th 2021. She was 85 years old.
The daughter of Ruth and Illinois Wise. Jean was born on February 12th 1936 at home in Lee, Virginia.
Jean was raised with her 9 siblings; Pearl, Sylvester, Francis, Dorothy, Pansy, Catherine, Elizabeth, Anna and Frederick.
Jean spent her adolescence in Virginia and then moved to New York where she met and married her late husband, Robert Humphrey. Together with Robert, Jean raised four children of her own and five stepchildren. One of Jean and Robert’s favorite vacation locations was Atlantic City New Jersey. Jean and Robert worked together at Singers for over 10 years until Robert passed in 1983. Jean also worked at Sears for over 20 years before retiring.
Jean was a fighter who survived two bouts of cancer and a heart attack. Jean had a sassy sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Jean deeply loved her family and believed that family was the most important thing in life.
Jean will be deeply missed and will forever remain in our memories.
Jean is survived by her four children; Sheena and Stanley Mesceda, William Wise, Thomas and Lucy Wise, Darryl and Jewell Wise.
Jean is also survived by her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; Stanley Jr. and Jaime Mesceda and their children Stanley 3rd, Mia and Magdalana , Molly and Brant Duell and their children Maria and Wesley, Faith and Andrew Redmond, Mackenzie Wise, Lauren Wise, Spencer Wise.
Donations may be made in Jean’s name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday January 28, 2022 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave, Middletown NY 10940.
