Obituary for Jean Bull Seiwell
Jean Crawford Bull Seiwell died on June 2, 2010, at Glen Arden in Goshen, NY, having celebrated her 90th birthday at Christmas surrounded by family from all over the northeast. She was a talented artist and a member of the William Bull and Sarah Wells family of Goshen.

Jean was born December 12, 1919 in Easton, PA to Milton Stanley and Mary LeVan Danner Bull. She attended Catawba College and the Moore Institute of Art in Philadelphia. She worked for many years as a draftsman for Ingersoll-Rand of Phillipsburg, NJ where among other assignments she was responsible for the maintenance records of the pumps and compressors on the U.S. Navy atomic submarines. On May 24, 1974, she married Homer G. Seiwell and moved west from Easton to Lenhartsville, PA.

In her painting, Jean focused on portraits and still life with an Impressionist flavor, although her subjects also included occasional landscapes, cityscapes, and dancers. She was interested in family history, and her care preserved the Civil War records of Capt. Theodore Hart Howell of Company D, 153rd Pennsylvania Infantry, which she donated to the Pennsylvania State Archives. She was an elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and served in a number of capacities for her local Democratic party.

Jean is survived by her niece Rev. Jean and husband Curt Risley of Lincoln, MA; her nephew Dr. Max Funk of Toledo, OH; great nieces Patricia Jones, Mary Risley and Jenna Funk; great nephews Curtis Risley and Ted Funk; great grand niece Sarah Jones; and great grand nephew Will Jones. She will also be missed by her husband’s nephew Richard and wife Linda Seiwell of West Chester, PA, great niece Julie Seiwell and great nephew Andrew Seiwell. She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Mary Bull, husband Homer Seiwell, and sister Sarah Funk.

Cremation will be private at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope. A service will be held at the New Bethel Union Church, 135 New Bethel Church Road, Kempton, PA. during the summer, and those interested in receiving details of timing of the service should send an email to Jean@jeanrisley.com.
