Janet Paschalson, a retired Speech Patholigist for City of Middletown School District, entered into eternal rest on May 24, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 80.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia Foley Paschalson, she was born on May 22, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY. Janet worked for the City of Middletown Schools as a speech pathologist from 1976-1997. She was a communicant and former lector for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was known as “Auntie Jan” to everyone. She had a great sense of humor and was an extremely generous lady who helped many people throughout her lifetime. She and her longtime friend and companion, Barbara Kay were well known in the community for the loving care they offered to anyone that crossed their paths. Barbara predeceased Jan on September 28, 2016, they will be happy to be reuinted in Heaven.
Jan is survived by her sister Candace Kay and her wife Connie Salvaggio, sister-in-law Helen Kay, nieces and nephews, Todd Kay and his wife Gail and their children, Nicholas and Samantha; Dawn Dardzinski and her husband Sander and their children, Isabella and Abigail. She is also survived by her dearest friends, the Broderick family whose children she called nieces and nephew, Keelin Sadoski, Megan and Luke Broderick , and her very best friend, who she called son, Michael Clatts.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Following cremation, entombment will take place in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
