Jane M. Drago, a longtime area resident died, Sunday July 4, 2010 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 70 years old.
Jane was born in the Bronx, but spent most of her life in the Monroe, Washingtonville area raising her family. Jane enjoyed classic movies, reading and as she used to say “ Listening to the quiet”. She possessed a sharp, wonderful sense of humor. A devoted wife, mother and friend to all she met, she will be deeply missed by all. Jane is survived by her loving husband Richard; four sons Kenneth Hughes and his wife Barbara of the Bronx, Christopher Hughes and wife Astrea of East Stroudsburg, PA, Stephen Hughes and his wife Michiko, and Peter Hughes and his wife Maggie all of Milford, Ct; two daughters Elaine Alvarez and her husband Pedro of Yonkers, Jennifer Gonzalez and her husband Jim of Ellenville and step daughter Christina Drago-Malits and her partner Terry Malits of Port Ewen, NY and her brother Robert O'Neill of the Bronx . Jane was so lucky to have twenty grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Thursday July 8th from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Bullville, NY 10am Friday July 9, with Father Patrick McGuigan officiating. Cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family.
