Obituary for Jane Kiernan
Jane Kiernan, a longtime area resident, died at home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 with her loving family at her side. She was 73.
The daughter of the late John and Helen Dobbin, she was born on February 5, 1950 in Manhattan, NY. Jane grew up in NYC, right next door to Stephen Kiernan, who became her lifetime partner and husband. They married on March 25, 1972 in NYC. In 1974, they moved to the Middletown area to raise their two sons. Jane was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother and Aunt. She had a good sense of humor and could always be counted on by her friends and family. She adored her sons and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Stephen at home, she is survived by her two sons, Stephen Jr and his wife Kelley of Vacaville, CA and Michel Kiernan of Middletown; her loving sister, Judy D'Arco of Middletown; brother John Dobbin, Jr and his wife Mary of Mt. Vernon, NY; grandchildren, Mackenzie Bridget, Kaitlyn and Erik, nieces and nephew, Christina, John and Lauren and several grandnieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Helen and one nephew, Erik Claussen.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Applebee- McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery in Montgomery, NY.
