Jane C. Schumaci, a longtime area resident and retired office manager for Radiology Associates in Middletown, died on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at home surrounded and cared for by her loving family. She was 72.
She was born on March 4, 1945 in Winsted, CT., the daughter of Edna and the late Gordon Skinner, Sr. She was a devoted mom and grandparent who left many of her attributes for us to remember and cherish. She was funny and firm, she read a lot and knew something about everything, her memory was a storehouse we all relied on; and her capacity for love of family and friends, especially her granddaughters, will be a constant reminder of how she lived her life to the fullest; even when she wasn’t feeling well. She stayed strong, courageous and spiritual as she battled her scleroderma. For 15 years, Jane, her best friend Maryanne and her daughter Wendy shared a monthly “Girls Night” playing poker and drinking martinis together.
Jane is survived by her loving children, daughter Wendy Schumaci of Westtown and son, Stephen Schumaci and his wife, Lelia of Kingston, N.Y.; her mom, Edna Skinner; Jane’s partner, John Imbimbo of Middletown; brothers Harry Skinner and wife Mary Jane of Fl. and Edward Skinner of Middletown; sister, Susan DeGraaf and her husband Bruce of Palm Coast, Fl. and two cherished granddaughters, Hunter-Lyn and Samantha Smolenski as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Stephen Schumaci and two brothers; Gordon Skinner Jr. and Charles Skinner .
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018, from 2-5 p.m. at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, N.Y. Cremation will be private and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
