White Lake, NY

James Vincent DiCarlo, owner of Friends Pub in Sullivan County, died on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Sloan Memorial Kettering Hospital in New York, NY. He was 56.

The son of the late William and Florence DiCarlo, he was born on March 13, 1957 in Queens. James moved to the White Lake area in 1991 from Bayshore, L.I. He and his family owned and operated Friends Pub in Smallwood.James loved his family and valued his friendships. A special and loyal friend to many, he was always someone who could be depended on. James was a man of his beliefs; a hard worker with high expectations. He was strong and tough but had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and music. His loss will be felt deeply by his family, friends and community.

In addition to his devoted wife, Mary Ellen Driscoll DCarlo; James is survived by his son, William DiCarlo; three daughters, Jennifer DiCarlo, Candace Fallon and Nicole DiCarlo Bonnaci and her husband, Patrick; and his beloved granddaughters, Sophia and Brianna; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Judy, 5 1/2 years ago.

Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940.Cremation will be at Cedar Hill Crematory,with burial of cremains in St. Mary's Cemetery in Queens at a later date.
