Obituary for James Patrick O'Reilly
James Patrick O'Reilly
10/17/64-1/27/2022
On Thursday January 27,2022 at 9:29pm James was called home to be with his father Douglas, mother Sophie, brother Patrick and beloved golden retriever of 15 years Munson.
He spent 39 years loving, providing for and laughing with his wife Lorri. Together they had three children Angela, Nicholas and Casey. He was the best father and an amazing Papa to his three grandchildren Allison, Anthony and Ryan Jr.
He is also survived by his siblings Michael and his wife Jieyi, Maureen and her husband Matt, Kathy and her husband John, Douglas and his wife Michele, Dennis and his wife Kim, Peggy, Colleen and her husband Jon, Trisha and her husband Ron, Jeanie and her husband John, Brian, Thomas and his wife Donna, their youngest brother John, a brother in law Bob and a sister in law Donna. From them he was made an uncle of 30 nieces and nephews.
James worked as a welder and project manager for almost 40 years at Weir Welding, a family owned company that treated him and loved him like one of their own. James, his wife Lorri and their children enjoyed Weir Welding company picnics every summer at Dorney Park for two decades. He was a hard worker, dedicated to his job and did anything he had to in order to give his family the best.
When he wasn't working, James loved to golf, gamble, go on vacation with his family and hike. He was extremely selfless and helped numerous family members build their homes, including two of which his wife and children lived in. James had a passion for the Fourth of July and set off a fireworks display every year that was better than Macy's. Growing up he always kept his parents on their toes! James enjoyed woodworking and was always coming up with something creative. You could find him in his reading glasses on a Sunday morning reading the newspaper, doing a puzzle or playing on his kindle. Within the last year he mastered the art of hoverboarding. James was a die hard Yankees, Jets and Rangers fan and went to countless games with his family.
Visitation will be held Thursday February 3,2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Applebee McPhillips Funeral home located at 130 Highland Avenue Middletown NY. There will be a celebration of life Friday February 4th from 1-5pm at the Holy Cross Church Parish Center located at 626 County Route 22 Middletown NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. www.applebee-mcphillips.com
