James E. Allen, a retired Registered Nurse for the VA Hosptial at Montrose, NY, died following a long illness on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 63.
The son of the late James E. and Annette Meunier Allen, he was born on November 2, 1953 in Suffern, NY. Jim served his country as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves. He loved to learn and earned both a Masters Degree in Business and one in Nursing. Jim worked as a Registered Nurse for the VA hospital at Montrose for over 30 years. In 2006, he married Olenka in Las Vegas, NV.
He enjoyed travelling and did so extensively throughout the world including Egypt, Peru, India, Australia, Dubai, China and French Polynesia, Russia. He was an fancy car officianado and liked to attend car shows. He loved his family, and spent much of his time with his beloved son, Matthew. He and Matthew shared an interests in science, animals and nature. The love he had for his family was immeasurable and he hated to leave them because of his illness. He fought it up until the last minute, because he wanted to be here for Matthew.
In addition to his loving wife, Olenka and his son Matthew at home; Jim is survived by his daughters, Kelsey and Lindsay Allen, brother Steve Allen and his wife Mary of Middletown, Mother-in-law and caretaker Yrma Paredes, sister-in-law Kalety Becker; uncle Dave Allen and his wife Judy of Spring Valley and nephews Christian, Steven and Louis and niece Dana.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 8:30 pm at the funeral home on Monday evening. Cremation will be private.
