Jack Vincent Vance, Jr. January 16, 1946-February 21, 2018 Middletown, NY
Jack Vincent Vance, Jr., a lifetime area resident, died unexpectedly on February 21, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 72.
The son of the late Mae Richie and Jack Vincent Vance, Sr., he was born on January 16, 1946 in Goshen, NY. Jack attended Middletown Schools and was a graduate of MHS Class of 1965. He enlisted in the US Airforce and proudly served as his country as a Sergeant until 1972. He married Diane Simpson, the love of his life, on May 13, 1972 at Denton Presbyterian Church in New Hampton, NY. Jack was a member of Teamsters Local 445 and drove for Roadway Express. He was a longtime member of the Middletown Elks Lodge, #1097 and was very active in his community.
Jack was a loving family man who loved perpetuating the magic of Christmas, he was everyone’s favorite Santa. His favorite pastime was spending time with his beloved grandchildren, who will forever remember him as “Pop-pop”. He was an avid bowler, loved to watch NASCAR and was a big Dale Earnhardt fan.
In addition to his wife Diane at home; Jack is survived by his beloved daughters, Kimberly Vance and her companion Robert; Jacquelynn Vance- Pauls and her husband Scott; and Jeanette Vance; his sister, Beverly Holsten and her husband Ted; step brother, Richard Buss and stepsister, Dorothy Carin; and the light of his life, his five treasured grandchildren, Grace, Jack(his namesake), Sara and Christopher Pauls, and Alexandra Vance. Jack will be dearly missed by both his family and friends.
As well as both parents, Jack V. Vance , Sr, and Mae Buss, Jack was also predeceased by his stepfather Carl Buss and one grandson, Kevin Michael Vance in 2002.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 10 am , Rev. Jeffrey Farley will officiate. Following cremation, burial will take place in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery.
