Obituary for Italo P. DiVirgilio
Italo DiVirgilio, a resident of Middletown, NY, passed away from natural causes in the comfort of his home on Monday, February 1, 2021.
The son of the late Bettina and Modesto DiVirgilio, was born on December 22, 1928 in Cugnoli, Italy. He married Ann Damico on September 27, 1953. Italo was a bricklayer/mason and a member of the Bricklayers Local #68 and retired from the Maintenance Department of the City of Middletown, NY in 1987. He proudly served our country from 1950-1952 in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Middletown Elks Lodge #1097.
In addition to his wife, Ann, with whom he was blessed to have spent 67 years of marriage, he is survived by his beloved children, daughter, Linda DiVirgilio and her companion Tom Snyder of Circleville, NY, and son Richard L. Divirgilio and his wife Rose of Windsor, NY, his two cherished grandchildren, Lisa DiVirgilio-Arnold (Jon) of Springfield, TN, Richard L. DiVirgilio, Jr. (Olivia) of Nashua, NH, two darling great-granddaughters, Matilda and Hazel Arnold of Springfield, TN, adored sister-in-law Cheryl DiVirgilio of Middletown, NY, numerous, kind, caring nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many loving friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Dominick and Richard A. DiVirgilio, brother-in-law, Gabe Damico and sisters-in-law Beverly DiVirgilio and Mary Damico.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Italo’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Burial will be private and a Memorial Mass for Italo will be held at St. Joseph's Church and announced at a later date.
