Obituary for Isabella Rotundo
Isabella Rotundo, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, died unexpectedly after a short illness at Middletown Park Manor Rehab. She was 84.
The daughter of Carmine Talarico and Mariannina Breve, she was born in Magisano Calabria, Italy on November 15, 1938.
Isabella immigrated to America and married the love of her life, Rosario, on January 22, 1961. He died on August 28, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Isabella lived for others. Her delight in preparing meals, desserts and breads was her passion. As a homemaker, there wasn’t much she couldn’t do. She gardened and produced vegetables and fruits that she would can and freeze. She cooked and baked and left tasty recipes for bread and Italian delicacies for all of us to enjoy. She was a fine seamstress, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sibling who will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two devoted sons; Joseph and his wife Kimberly, Carmine and his wife Maria, all of Middletown, her precious grandchildren; Brittany, Cassandra, DeAnna, Carmine, Nicholas and four great-grandchildren; Isabella, Milana, Kevin and Gianna, her brother Gaetano Talarico of Florida and her sisters; Maria Sacco and her husband Tom and Antoinette Sardella all of Middletown.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Rosario.
Visitation for Isabella will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 11AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown with the Rev. Dennis Nikolic presiding.
Entombment will be in the family mausoleum in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
