Dr. Irvin P. DeStefano of Orange Pediatric Associates in Middletown, died on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center following a valiant three year battle with leukemia. He was 55.

The son of Raffaela DeRosa DeStefano the late Angelo DeStefano, he was born on December 9, 1957 in Staten Island.He married Maureen Waugh on August 30, 1986 in West Point, NY. Irvin and Maureen resided in the Goshen area since 1986. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Goshen.

Irvin did his undergraduate studies at Long Island University, and continued his studies at University del Noreste Medical School. He completed his medical degree at New York Medical College in Vallhalla . He did his pediatric residency at Westchester Medical Center . He was a member of the attending staff at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, the faculty at New York Medical College and was a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

In addition to his loving wife Maureen at home; he is survived by his beloved daughters, Sarah Anne and Deirdre Moran DeStefano both at home; his mother, Raffaela DeStefano; his sister, Donna Lynn DeStefano, mother-in-law, Ann Marie Catalano and her husband Bud; sisters-in-law Patricia (Patsy) Rainaldi and her husband Steve, Ellen Waugh and Kathleen Lee; Godchildren, Shane A. DeStefano, Douglas Goetz and Anthony Milidantri as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by both his father Angelo DeStefano and his father in law, William Waugh.

The family wishes to thank the staff at New York Presbyterian Hospital, especially Dr. Gail Roboz, the University of Chicago Medical Center, especially Dr. Wendy Stock and Orange Regional Medical Center for the loving care they provided.

Visitation hours are from 4 to 8 pm today, Monday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 70 Murray Avenue, Goshen, NY 10924 at 11 am on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. Cremation will be at Cedar Hill Crematory. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Washingtonville, NY on Friday for immediate family members.
