Irene Marsin
1930 – April 18, 2022
Irene Marsin, of Middletown, NY passed away peacefully at Braemar Living, in the Town of Wallkill NY, at the age of 91. She was born in Brooklyn NY where she met and married her future husband, Clifford Marsin.
Irene was one of five children born to Mary, a schoolteacher and Stephen, a Master Carpenter, natives of Newfoundland. Irene worked from the age of 10 babysitting to earn what she could to help the family and carried that strong work ethic and perseverance to survive throughout her life. She learned to drive in NYC in her 40’s in preparation for moving their family to “country living” in Middletown, where she knew there was limited public transportation. She worked for Lloyds Department store as a secretary until her retirement.
Irene loved her family, pets, job, co-workers, neighbors and in her later years came to love the wonderful staff and friends at Braemar Living, especially her tablemates, who she looked forward to seeing and exchanging stories with every day. In her retirement, she was able to do her favorite things and be with her favorite people until the end of her life.
Creativity was her passion. She loved to cook, bake, garden and sew, as well as create in all different types of crafts and artistry. Her last endeavor was to learn how to draw horses. She was exceptionally talented in all that she did.
Irene was predeceased by her Loving Husband, Clifford in 2004 and beloved Son-in-Law, Richard Downes, and her siblings George, Donald and June.
