Irene M. MacNamara, a retired X-Ray technologist from Good Samaritan Hospital, died following a long illness on January 6, 2017 at Health Alliance in Kingston. She was 66.
The daughter of the late Edwin & Mary Kelly, she was born on January 20, 1950 in Manhattan, NY. She graduated from St. Simon's Stock High School in Bronx, NY and trained as an X-ray technician following graduation. Irene worked for many different hospitals throughout her lifetime prior to her retirement in 2011. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Middletown, Irene was a nurturing mother, Nana and friend who helped anyone who needed it. She was also an animal lover and a patriot who was devoted to her country.
Irene is survived by her four daughters and their families: Kerry, Laura, Erin and Tara and her 6 grandchildren who she loved more than anything: Christian, Michael, Jonathan, Dylan, Lily and Kelvin. She also leaves behind her brother George and his wife Laurie Kelly, and her former spouse and lifelong friend Austin MacNamara.
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brother Edwin Kelly.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Applebee-mcPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Fuenral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Yonkers.
