Ilia Rosalia Sanabria, a longtime resident of the area, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 10, 2022 in Newburgh. N.Y.
The daughter of Flor and Leonor Torres Acosta, she was born on March 24, 1956 in Vieques, Puerto, Rico.
Ilia was a beautiful woman who loved her family and her life. Her energetic and pleasant personality was contagious. If there was music, Ilia was in her element. She was a wonderful dancer and could glide across the floor with ease. We all have memories of her enjoying the songs and ballads played at he many events she attended.
Sadly, she was at a gathering with friends and family when during a dance with her daughter Ilia suffered a fatal heart attack. While the sudden death of our loved one has been a great loss and shock, we know that her devotion to Her Lord and Savior promises her a new life with Him in Heaven.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Jose Luis Sanabria, at home, her devoted daughter and son in law, Rosalie Sanabria and Jason Weissman of Middletown as well as Two sons, Daniel and Jason Sanabria.
She was a long-time resident of the Bronx and moved to this area two years ago.
Visitation will take place on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, N.Y. There will be a Service of Remembrance at 2p.m. with Pastor Joe Nieves officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery in Middletown.
