Herman F. Engelmann of Middletown passed away on Friday, October 13, 2006 with family by his side at the Tucker Cancer Center of Orange Regional Medical Center following a corrageous battle with cancer. He was 55.Â
The son of the late Herbert Engelmann and Harriet Botsford Engelmann, he was born on February 1, 1951 in Callicoon, New York and grew up in Narrowsburg. He was employed by Ben Ciccone, Inc. of Poughkeepsie as a truck driver and was a member of Teamsters Local 445. He had a deep love for his family, and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing pool.Â
In addition to his mother at home, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Herbert and Marianne Engelmann of Monticello, sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Joseph Thomas of Ridgely, Maryland, sister and brother-in-law Loretta and Calvin Foreman of Greenwill Springs, Louisiana, sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Wes Bowers of Middletown, nieces and nephews Alicia and Carly Bowers at home in Middletown; Joseph Thomas and Danielle Thomas of Maryland, Michael Engelmann of Pennsylvania, and Ashley Boothe and Cassandra Engelmann of Monticello, a granddaughter, Brianna Engelmann, along with several grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.Â
He was predeceased by the daughter he adored, Tonya Engelmann, and a nephew, Gregory Thomas.Â
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Mulaparthi and Dr. Grundfast and the entire staff of Crystal Run Health Care, the staff at the Tucker Center, and Ms. Mary Ann D'Aloia of Orange & Sullivan Hospice for all of their efforts and concern. Although our hearts are broken, we know that they did everything that could be done. Â
Friends may call on Sunday, October 15, 2006 from 1:00 - 2:00PM at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue in Middletown. Services will follow at 2:00PM. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family, with private internment at the family's plot at the Slate Hill Cemetery in Goshen, New York.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, New York.Â
