Henry L. (Pucho) Brown was born in Harlem, New York on Nov. 1, 1938 and passed away at his home on
Wednesday, September 21, 2022. His beloved wife Eileen (Lena) Frohberg Brown preceded him in death
on January 24, 2004.
Pucho and Lena relocated from New York City to Middletown, New York in the 1970’s.
Henry L. Brown was better known as “Pucho”. As a band leader he formed Pucho and the Latin Soul
Brothers that played Latin Jazz, Soul Jazz and R&B in 1959. His music is still enjoyed by millions today. He
was the Second Black inducted into International Latin Hall of Fame. Pucho has traveled the world
spreading joy with his music. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Halloween was his favorite time of year including making his Pucho Punch. He loved taking train rides,
playing his numbers and eating out at restaurants.
Pucho is survived by his son Darin Brown and his wife Velinza “Lynn” of Middletown, his son Derek
Brown and his wife Suzetta of Middletown, daughter Cyrisse Russell and her husband Wendell of Port
Saint Lucie, Florida, his daughter Michelle Underwood. His grandchildren Derek Brown Jr., Alexis Brown,
Kaylese John-Brown, Nicholas Brown, Tahja-Brown Mendoza and her husband Felipe of Middletown,
Darilyn Owusu-Ansah and her husband Dennis of Middletown, Darin Brown and his wife Michelle of
Lake Mary, Florida, Barry Matthew Underwood and his wife Kristina of Millville, NJ, Allison Underwood
of New York, NY, Wayne Hunter and his wife Kim of Florida, Phillip Russell and his wife Lauren Ziegler
and his great grandchildren Ariana, Xavier, Camila, Mya, Tristan, Mia, Matthew, Valentina and Dominic.
A Memorial Service will be held on November 19, 2022 from 2 pm to 5 pm at Hoffman Lodge 112 North
Street, Middletown, New York, 10940. This will be a celebration of his life.
