Helen E. Ferrier, a 46 year resident and co-owner of Pool Plus in Middletown, died surrounded by her loving family on December 12, 2016, at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 75.
The daughter of the late John and Margaret Pisano Chadwick, she was born on February 16, 1941, in Yonkers, NY. Helen married the love of her life, Lawrence A. Ferrier, and they moved to the area in 1970. She worked both as a teacher’s aide for Minisink Valley Schools and alongside her family in their business, Pools Plus. Helen raised five sons, and she lived for her family. She loved life and enjoyed music, dancing, and vacationing in Maine and Florida. She was our firecracker! Helen was a devoted wife and mother who will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to her loving husband, Larry at home, she is survived by four sons: Larry and his wife Ellen of Westtown, Kenny and his wife Lisa of Mt. Hope, Scott and his wife Kimberlie of Bloomingburg, and John and his wife Kathleen of Mt. Hope. She was predeceased by her son, Glen Ferrier. She is also survived by her grandchildren, whom she treasured: James, Carleigh, and Austin; Kenny, Patrick and Brandon; Ashly, Brittney, Sara, Glen, and Jenna; Dylan and Jordan; and great-grandson, Michael.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Celebration of Helen’s life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the funeral home, burial will follow in the family plot in Howells Cemetery.
