Helen Congiolosi of Saratoga Springs, formerly of Rock Hill, died on Wednesday October 7 at Saratoga Springs Hospital. She was 88.

The daughter of the late Franz and Anna Arkel Kunz, she was born on April 7, 1921 in Port Jervis, NY. Helen married Frank J. Congiolosi on October 12, 1941 in Port Jervis, and they shared 64 happy years together until Frank's death in 2006.

Affectionately known as "Gammy" to her family, she was generous, family oriented and had a great presence about her. She liked people and staying busy. Spiritual life was very important to Helen and she remained involved with her church in whichever community she lived in. She was also always active in the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and the Otisville Ambulance Corps. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose memory will be forever cherished by her family.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Muer and her husband Joe of New Hampton, and Barbara Toth and her husband Andrew of Saratoga Springs; her son-in-law Anthony "Skip" Coppola of Otisville; seven grandchildren, Chrissy Coppola Bush, Darren Coppola, Megan and Tyler Muer, and Danielle, Jeff and Jonathan Toth; and one great-granddaughter Katelyn Kaiser.In addition to her husband, Frank J. Coppola, her four sisters and one brother, Helen was predeceased by her daughter Beverly Coppola on May 8, 2002.

Visitation hours are today, Friday, October 9, 2009 from 7 to 9 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 45 Highland Avenue, Otisville, NY. Burial will follow in the family plot in Holy Name Cemetery.

In appreciation of the caring attention to their beloved mother, Helen's family requests memorial contributions in her name to be made to the Home of the Good Shepard, 390 Church Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
