Harold E. Baird, 84, formerly of Bloomingburg, NY, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2011 in Zephyrhills, FL. He was born in Bloomingdale, NJ to the late Veronica and Harold K. Baird. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Shirley, his sister Shirley Foray and brother-in-law Jerry, his children Marlene and son-in-law Steve Modlin, Harold K. and daughter-in-law, Kim Baird, Brian and daughter-in-law Ellen Baird, Lisa and son-in-law Steve Carlson, granddaughter Tara and husband David Sharp, grandsons Kyle, Darryl, Joshua, Scott, Casey, Adam, Ryan and Collin, great grandchildren Meghan, EJ, Laney, Devon and one on the way. He will always be our "POP-POP". He is also survived by two nieces.
He was a proud U.S Air Force veteran who served in WWII. He worked for 40 years for Curtis Wright as a coordinator. He was a respected business owner of Rainbow Valley Campground in Bloomingburg, NY for 20 years. He was a past member of the Bloomingdale, NJ and Bloomingburg, NY Volunteer Fire Departments. He served on the Board of Directors for the Baird Family Association, Warwick NY.
Harold and Shirley were avid travelers of the United States by plane or vehicle. Their motorhome tires crossed every state line in the lower 48 states.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a hospice of one's choice.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 1 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY .
