Harold A Dike of New Hampton, died unexpectedly on Sunday June 26 at ORMC Horton Campus. He was 91.
The son of the late Francis and Alice Dike, he was born on September 20, 1919 in N Y, NY.
Harold served proudly in World War II as a medic. He was awarded several medals for his service, the highest of which was the purple heart. He taught swimming at the Middletown YMCA for 41 years and was a dedicated member of his hunting club.
A statement from his close friend Sam, read, "If I had to something to describe him, I would say that he was a nice guy, with a great sense of humor. He fulfilled his duties as a service man with proudness and honor. My dear friend you will be missed, your friend, Sam".
Visitation for Harold was held from 1- 2pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial with Military honors was held at 2:30 pm at O.C. Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
