Guiseppe “Joe” Sorice of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday January 19. He was 55.

The son of the late Pellegrino and Francesca Napolitano Sorice he was born on September 5, 1954 in Avella, Italy. He came to the United States in 1967 with his family. Joe was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and worked as a machinist for Kiley and Meuller in Middletown for many years.

Joe loved spending time with his family and shooting pool. He was also very close to his cousins in Italy, and looked forward to his return trips to Italy to spend time with his family there.

He is survived by his two sons, Pellegrino (P.J.) and his wife Jess of Ancrandale, NY and Joseph Sorice of Middletown; and the mother of his children, Linda Sorice; sisters Filomena Rosanelli and her husband Paolo, and Maria Drago and sister-in-law, Gloria Sorice; and three brothers, Antonio and his wife Orsolina, Felice and his wife Rita, and Andrea and his wife Saviana and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Maria Sorice on January 1, 2009, one brother, Guiliano Sorice in 1994 and a brother-in-law, Orlando “Dino” Drago.

Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Friday, January 22, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.Funeral arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home.
