Grace P. Lazier, a longtime area resident, died on November 16, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 77.
The last surviving of eight children born to the late John and Mary Young Kelly, she was born on August 11, 1939 in the Bronx. Grace married Joseph Moran November 4, 1961 and they started their family together in the Bronx. Grace moved to the Middletown area in 1976 and was a longtime member of American Legion Post 151 Ladies Auxiliary, as well as an employee there. She also worked for Orange County Infirmary as a nurse’s aid and the Times Herald Record as a retrieval clerk. On October 1, 1988, she married Arnold W. Lazier in Maybrook, NY.
Grace was a compassionate and loving mom whose grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life. She loved music and dancing.
In addition to her husband Arnie at home; she is survived by her son, Joseph Moran and his wife Vicki of South Florida and three daughters, Theresa Moran of Middletown, Patricia Bowers and her significant other, Jason Gould of Unionville and Virginia Howell and her husband Daniel all of Middletown. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Vienna, Sierra, Braden, Kayla, Peter Jr., Kevin, Daniel, Dalton, Jared, Jaxon and Briana and great grandchild on the way as well as her best friends of 40 years, Margie and Carlos Talavera.
She was predeceased by an infant daughter, and all of her siblings, Rosemary, John, James, Ellen, Margaret, Virginia and Bobby.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
