Gloria Cassano, a 23-year resident of Scotchtown, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014, surrounded by her devoted family, at The Middletown Park Nursing Home. She was 85 years old.
Gloria was born in the Bronx, the only child of the late Andrew and Theresa Di Cicco Ceci on September 19, 1928. She married the love of her life, Joseph Cassano on June 8, 1947, and together they raised their four children until his death in 1990.
Gloria was a beautiful and elegant woman who was the hub of our family. She shared her great sense of humor and silly pranks with all of us - and never took life too seriously. GiGiMa to her grand and great grandchildren, she will be remembered for her unconditional love, generous care for others and the importance of family in our lives. Her faith in the Lord was evident throughout her life.
Gloria is survived by her son, Philip and his wife, Carole of Middletown; three daughters: Andrea de Dufour of Scotchtown, Theresa Andre and her husband, Peter of Scotchtown, Maria Coleman and her significant other, Vincent; fourteen grandchildren, Gloria, Janine, Billy, Peter, Joseph, Vincent, Dawn, Philip Jr., Joey, Andrew, Gregory, Evann, Dominic, Jimmy; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 9th, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 10th, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Cottage St., Middletown.
Memorial contributions in Gloria's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 407 E. Main St. Middletown, NY 10940.
