Gertrude M. Morrissey, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, died on April 9, 2018 at Westchester Medical Center. She was 65.
The daughter of the late William F. and Catherine Daley Forshaw, she was born on September 24, 1952 in Yonkers, NY. Gertrude worked for Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY. She married Philip Morrissey on July 2, 1996, and they moved to the Middletown area in 2007. Philip remembers her as perfect in every way. She loved her family and was fiercely loyal to the people She loved.
In addition to Philip, at home, she is survived by her son, James Forshaw of Hopewell Junction, NY; her grandchildren, Daniella and Joseph Forshaw; her brothers, William R. Forshaw and his wife Charlotte of Chester, and Joseph Forshaw and his wife Patricia of Hopewell Junction; and Sister Loretta Galella and her husband Michael of Delaware. She is also survived by one stepson, Philip Morrissey, Jr. and two stepdaughters, Susan Gallagher and Sandra Slobiski; 6 step-grandchildren, Alison, Andrew, Jessica, Lauren, Thomas, and Alexa, and many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her twin sister, Florence Patiri and sister, Mary Detko.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue. Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in New Prospect Cemetery, Rt. 52, Pine Bush, and NY
