Gerard T. Grogan, known as Jerry, a longtime resident of Orange County, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at his home in Middletown surrounded by his family. He was 69.

Gerard was born on January 2, 1942 in the Bronx, the son of Thomas and Josephine Hennessey Grogan. Gerard graduated from Iona College in 1965 with a B.A. degree and from St. John's University Law School in 1971. In 1971, he was admitted to the New York State Bar and United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern. In 1974, he began practicing law in Goshen, NY. During his years in private practice, he was a member of the New York County Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, and the American Academy of Justice. He was a member of the PGA National Palm Beach Gardens, Orange County Golf Club and Storm King Golf Club. At the time of his death, he was practicing law at Grogan and Souto in Goshen, NY. Gerard was an avid Giants fan, loved traveling, playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen Strout of Middletown, NY; his sons, Thomas Grogan and his long time companion, Kerry Burton of

Middletown, and Keith Grogan and his wife Andrea of Astoria; daughter Kelly Ferrara and her husband Frank of Goshen; sister Patricia De la Parra of Yonkers, NY; several nieces and nephews. Finally, he is survived by his adorable little granddaughter, Rylee Ferrara to whom he was known as Pop Pop.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Thomas G. Grogan and Richard N. Grogan.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen, NY 10924. Burial will follow in the family plot in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY, 10532.
