George W. Reed of Bushkill PA, died on Tuesday February 27 in Easton, PA. He was 87.
The son of the late George and Anna Heffron Reed he was born on March 11, 1919 in Middetown, NY. George was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. When he was a resident of Middletown, he was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. George worked on the O&W Railroad and later for the Dellwood Dairy. Most recently, George worked as an accountant for The Duke Foundation in Summerville, N.J. George was a trusted employee and close friend of the Duke family until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Poveromo Reed; daughter, Virginia Woods of Middletown; stepsons, Billy Ferrono, Robert Ferrono and Richard Ferrono and stepdaughter Teresa DeMartis; five grandchildren, Debbie and Gregg Woods, Matthew and Laura Beth DeMartis and Billy Ferrono; and three great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine Melfie Reed in 1964, four brothers, Harry, Walter, William, and Robert and his son-in-law Richard Woods.
Friends and family may call on Monday, March 5, 2007 from 9 to 11 am at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY, 10940. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery in Middletown.
