George W. Fritzsch, Sr., beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, died unexpectedly on his birthday at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY. He was 81.
The son of the late Marjorie Haakmeester Fritzsch and William Fritzsch, Sr., he was born on April 30, 1937 in Clifton, NJ. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and shortly after his return, he married Barbara Napolitano in 1958 in Circleville, NY. He worked as a truckdriver and was a member of Local 445 in Newburgh. George was a caring and devoted Catholic throughout his adult lifetime. He was a member of the Greenville Senior Leisure Club.
He was a member of American Legion Post 151. He enjoyed the outdoors, both fishing and hunting. He liked country music and going out to dinner. George was a loving and devoted father and husband who will truly be missed. He was a good friend to everyone who knew and loved him.
In addition to his loving wife, Barbara at home, he is survived by his four children, Donna Fritzsch-Long and her husband Richard of Wappingers Falls, NY, George Fritzsch, Jr and his fiancee, Kim Ronaldson of Montgomery, NY; Brenda Hudson and her husband Ed of Soundbeach, LI and Karen Fritzsch-Dohrenwend and her husband Adam of Middletown. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Fritzsch, Jr. and his wife Phyllis of Middletown, and sister Lillian DeBoer of Johnson, NY and sister-in-law Harriet Fritzsch of Wycoff, NJ; and eight grandchildren, Christopher, Richard, Eddie, Justin, Matthew, Devin, Jenna and Adam, Jr; and three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Elena, and Barrett.
He was predeceased by one brother, Donald Fritzsch and a brother-in-law Frank DeBoer.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
