George Francis Roesch, III., Esq.

Middletown, NY

George Francis Roesch, III, Esq. a distinguished trial lawyer and lifetime area resident, died suddenly on Saturday April 29 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus Middletown, NY. He was 72.

The son of the late George and Carol Stevens Roesch, II he was born on September 13, 1933 in Middletown, NY.

George was a 1950 graduate of Middletown High School, and graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA in 1954. From 1954-56, he served as a medic in Germany in the 7th Calvary of the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, the former Sheila O’Brien of Albany, at St. Vincent de Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Albany in 1959. George received his law degree from Union University, Albany Law School in 1960, where he was a member of the Justinian Society and the Order of the Coif.

He was a member of St. Paul´s Roman Catholic Church in Bullville. Professionally, Mr. Roesch was a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Middletown Bar Assoc., and the N.Y. Bar Assoc.. He received the O.C. Bar Assoc.’s John McBride Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004, and was active in community service and volunteerism.

George is survived by his loving wife, Sheila, at home, his children, Ellen S. Roesch of Albany, Anne E. Dunitz and her husband Jeremy of Middletown, Susan M. Butler and her husband Richard of Woodburne, Matthew and his wife Daria of East Rochester, and Carol F.Roesch and her husband Phil Aiken of Stoughton, MA. He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph E. Roesch and his wife Linda of Hamilton, NY, and John J. Roesch and his wife Pat of Fly Creek, NY, one sister, Mary Carolyn Roesch of Oneonta,. He doted lovingly on his ten grandchildren, Amanda, Shayna, Gretchen, Courtney, Jesse, Emily , Kyle, Lucy, Kayla, and Graham and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces.

Friends may call on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A fmass of Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday,May 3 at 11:00 AM at St. St. Paul´s R. C. Church, Rt 17 K, Bullville, NY. Fr. Patrick McGuigan, O. Carm. will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery, Middletown, NY.
