George O. Cable, a corrections officer for Otisville Correctional Facility, died on Thursday November 4 at the Tucker Center for Cancer Center at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus Middletown, NY. He was 66.

The son of the late George and Dorothy Gardner Cable he was born on November 1, 1944 in Middletown, NY.

He was a lifetime resident of the area and a devoted member of the Middletown BPOE # 1097 for over 20 years. His family will always remember him as a loving husband and devoted father to all of his children.. He was loving compassionate, and would go out of his way for anyone. He was an avid golfer and bowler and a member of the Middletown Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

In addition to his wife loving Marla, at home, he is survived by his sons, Jason and his wife Melissa; Ryan and his wife Dorene; daughter, Kara Cable and her longtime partner Allan, stepson Jason Fleischer; stepdaughter Mallory McByrne and her husband James. He is also survived by four beloved grandchildren, Meghan, Sean, Seamus and Ava, a half- brother David and a half-sister Sandy Shoemaker.

Visitation hours are from 5 to 9 pm on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown.

An Elks Service will be held at 7:15 pm on Monday evening at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday November 9 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Stewart and his entire staff along with the Tucker Cancer Ward for their love and compassion they gave to George and Marla during his illness.
