The daughter of the late Francesco and Biogia Gervosio Cannella, she was born on August 6, 1915 in New York City.
She married Jerome V. Governale, and they shared over 60 years of marriage together until his death in 1986. A 30 year resident of the area, Genevieve was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown. She was one of the oldest members of the Greenville NY Seniors Club. Her Wednesday afternoon card game was the highlight of her week.
