Frank Gemmati of Middletown NY, died on Friday September 11 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus in Middletown. He was 69.
The son of the late Saverio and Pauline DeVanna Gemmati, he was born on July 18, 1940 in the Bronx. After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps., Frank married Theresa Rizzo on August 7, 1965 in Queens. They moved to the Middletown area over 35 years ago from Queens, and they became members of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Otisville. A retired stenographer for the Orange County District Attorney's Office, Frank was also a volunteer at Horton Hospital. He was very creative and enjoyed painting and various crafts. He didn't like the spotlight, preferring the background.
In addition to his loving wife, Theresa at home; he is survived by his son Frank, Jr. and his wife Kimberly; three sisters, Angela Luce and Tony , Antoinette D'Elio and her husband Tony and Rosemary Gallione; his sisters-in-law Rosemarie Groner and her husband Warren and Patricia Dunleavy and her husband Hank; and his grandchildren Peter James and Nicole Bianca; many nieces, nephews and greatnieces and greatnephews.
He was predeceased by his sister-in-law and her husband, Stella and Michael Grant.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Monday, September 14, 2009 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 75 Highland Avenue, Otisville, NY 10963. Entombment will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY.
