Obituary for Frank Capochino
Frank John Capochino, a loving and loyal father, grandfather, brother and friend died on November 5, 2017, at his residence in the town of Deer Park, NY. He was 67. Mr. Capochino is survived by his son, David Capochino, daughter Wendy Capochino Savoie, husband Steve Savoie, daughter April Capochino Myers, husband, Luke Myers, four beautiful and cherished grandchildren, Lexi, Lily, Lucien and Kaley, sister Michelle Angione, husband John Angione, and nephews Jon Paul Angione and Peter Angione. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marcello and Helen Capochino. Mr. Capochino was born in Whitestone, NY and graduated from Bishop Reilly High School in Fresh Meadows, NY. He attended Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI, before joining the U.S. Navy where he served his country honorably on active duty for five years and one day as a Machinist Mate Second Class Petty Officer. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Good Conduct Medal. After being honorably discharged from active duty, he served numerous years in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was a natural musician and played drums in multiple bands throughout his lifetime. He was a gifted chef who could prepare a restaurant-worthy tray of antipasto, an Italian masterpiece of sausage and peppers, and his Thanksgiving stuffing left everyone at the table wishing there was more. He loved hunting and fishing and spending summer nights on the lawn of Bethel Woods, listening to live bands. He was a grandfather who always brought the gummy bears and an ability to play, color and swim endlessly with his beloved grandchildren. He was an eager learner, a gifted teacher, a playful jokester and a generous soul. He loved unconditionally, gave freely and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home in Middletown, NY. A celebration of his life will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the charity of your choice.
