Francis Robert "Bob" Abbamonte, a long time resident of Otisville, died November 30, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 76.
The son of the late Francis and Julia Brown Abbamonte, he was born on December 6, 1934 in Brooklyn. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. In 1957, Bob married Anna Marie Arcuri in Brooklyn. He moved to the area 16 years ago from Brooklyn and was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Otisville.
His family fondly remembers him jokingly referring to himself as the "president and CEO of the ACME Corporation" he was always there to help anyone in need with plumbing, electric, mowing or any other odd job. He enjoyed making birdhouses, tinkering with his cars ( Bob's Benzes) and working with his hands. Family was always his # 1 priority.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Anna Marie at home, two sons Frank and his wife Lilly, and Joseph and his wife Anna Maria; and his daughters, Gerianne Winkeleer and her husband Mike and Mary Ann Gau; and two sisters Patricia Firestone and Mary Ferrarro; and one brother Joseph and his wife Susan; and seven beloved grandchildren, Geralynn, Samantha, Jamie, Danielle, Lilly, Frankie, and Alyssa.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Otisville. Burial with Military honors will take place in Holy Name Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Bob's name may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
