Francis J. “Frank” Labbate, a retired driver for the MTA, died on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Orange Regional Mecial Center, with his loving family at his side. He was 86.
The son of the late Nicola and Concetta DeSantis Labbate, he was born on December 6, 1930 in the Bronx, NY. Frank married Elizabeth Lynch on September 4, 1954 at St. Thomas Acquinas Church in the Bronx, they shared 43 years together until her death in 1998. Frank enjoyed growing his own vegatables and was also a great cook. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Frank is survived by his children; Rosemarie Rose of Fla, Patrick Labbate and his wife Kristen of Las Vegas, NV, Frank Labbate and his wife Diana of Walden, NY, Johnny Labbate and his wife Jayne of CA, Suzanne Knapp and her husband Rob of Fla., Richie Labbate and his wife Donna of Hopewell Junction, NY, and Joanne Assalone of Hopewell Junction, NY. He is also survived by his twin sister, Gracie Heidi; and brother, Larry Labbate both of Long Island, NY; 20 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, siblings and wife Elizabeth, he was predeceased by his son in law Floyd Rose.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am at the funeral home and burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
