Obituary for Francis D. Krajewski
Francis "Buddy" Krajewski, a longtime area resident, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at home with his wife and children at his side. He was 90 years old.
The son of the late Phillip D.Krajewski  and Marie Natoli, he was born on August 6, 1930 in Kingston, NY. Buddy spent most of his life in Kingston, graduating from Kingston High School. On June 19, 1961, he married Virginia Colon. Francis was known as Buddy to his family, but he answered to "Hank" and "Henry" as well. He worked for many years as a truck driver for Rupp Southern Tier and Yellow Freight. He was a member of Local 445 and 707. Buddy owned his own trucking company and worked on the Thruway during the 1950s. he and his wife owned the Pool Store, Inc. . He had a great sense of humor and loved to dance (which earned him another nickname "Crazy Legs"). He was proud, hard working and most of all a family man. Buddy adored his grandchildren. He liked camping, motorcycles and snowbirding in Miami, Fl with his wife.
In addition to his loving wife, Virginia at home; he is survived by his five children, Yvonne Howard and her husband Michael of Huntington, NY, John Illanovsky and his wife Susan of Matamoras, PA, Terry Bassett and her husband David of Georgetown, TX, Marie Krajewski Christner and Holly Lawrence Malley and her husband Dan all of Middletown, NY; his adopted daughter, Karen Turi of Florence, Al his grandchildren, John Francis Bassett, Jessica Freytag, Brianne Morgan, John Paul Illanovsky, Nicole Illanovsky, Kristopher Howard, Matthew Howard, Jordan Lawrence, Taylor Vandyke, Connor Christner, and Parker Christner. He also leaves 14 great-grandchildren, Jionni and Jordan Lawrence, Jr, Mila Vandyke, Nolan and Landon Bassett, Grace and Reid Morgan, Tatum and Bryce Freytag, Xavier, Roman and Kaine Howard and Jayce and Riley Illanovsky.
He was predeceased by his parents and a son-in-law, Gene Lawrence. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 pm on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Cremation will be private.
