Francis Anthony Quirk was born on April 28, 1953 in Ilion, NY, the son of Francis and Kathryn Quirk. Frank graduated from Frankfort High School in 1971. He was employed as a toll collector for the New York State Thruway Authority for 35 years. While working on the Thruway, Frank made many wonderful friends. He retired in 2010 and moved to Florida in 2014.
He is survived by his sister Geraldine Quirk, his ex-wife Judy Gorzynski, and his Irish and Italian cousins. He was predeceased by his son Sean Francis Quirk in 2004.
Getting together at family reunions with all his Italian cousins was a special time for Frank. Visiting Staten Island to be with his family and cousins was also a favorite time for him. He loved travelling to Las Vegas with his good friends Larry and Pete. He enjoyed talking football and baseball with his friend Jeff. He especially loved dinners at the home of Angelo and Donna LaRosa. Everyone who knew Frank loved him. He leaves an empty space in our hearts.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:30 am on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:30 am on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am at the funeral home.
