Francis (Pete) A. Piper of Middletown, died on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 79.
The son of the late Annette and Frank A. Piper, Sr, he was born on June 18, 1933 in Maine. Pete served 20 years in the Marine Corps and moved to the area in 1974 after being stationed in Japan. He married his wife Lauramae in August of 1969. She predeceased him in 2010 after 41 years of marriage. He ran the shipping and receiving department for IBM until his retirement. He was a devoted member of his church, Scotchtown Presbyterian Church.
Pete cherished his role as husband, father and grandfather. His four grandchildren were the apples of his eyes. Pete was a good friend to many; generous, supportive and would give anyone who needed it the shirt off his back.
Pete is survived by his son, Daniel and his wife Jennifer; four grandchildren, Erik, Daniel, Jr., Rebecca and Tyler; his brothers, Carroll Piper and his wife Dixie and Frank Piper and his wife Velora all of Maine and Robert Clifford and his wife Lori of Ct and one sister, Evelyn Piper Keene of Maine.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Scotchtown Presbyterian Church, Blumel Road, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial of Ashes with Military honors will follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Scotchtown Presbyterian Church, Blumel Road, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial of Ashes with Military honors will follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
