Frances J. Roland of New York NY, died on Monday November 19, 2012. She was 79.
The daughter of the late Francis and Eva Mueller Clark she was born on January 12, 1933 in New York, NY. Frances was a member of St. Joseph's Church of Yorkville where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She worked as a loan officer for Citibank in New York City until her retirement. She was a Brownie leader until her very recent illness and worked the polls every election day. Frances was fiercely independent and was affectionately known as "Hard-hearted Hannah". She was a true New York City Girl, loved Manhattan; walking the city and sitting in the park. She enjoyed reading, especially John Grisham novels. She adored her grandchildren.
Frances is survived by her son, James Roland and one daughter, Frances Pierce of Middletown; grandchildren, Brittany and Kimberly Pierce. She was predeceased by 7 sisters and 1 brother, and two grandchildren, Danny Pierce on November 27, 1988 and Eva Pierce on August 6, 1983.
Visitation hours are from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. Visitation will also be held from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Sunday, November 25 and from 9 to 10:30 am on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Charles P. Nagel Funeral Home, 352 East 87th St, New York, NY.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday at St. Joseph’s of Yorkville 404 East 87th Street New York, NY 10128. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Queens, NY.
